Disinfection and Sterilisation
Disinfection and sterilisation are both decontamination processes. It is important to know the difference between the two.
Disinfection – eliminates harmful microorganisms e.g., bleach
Sterilisation – kills all harmful micro-organisms e.g., UV cabinet
As much a possible all tools and consumables used for treatment should be disposable to avoid transmission of disease and cross contamination
E.g., spatulas, single use needles, cotton buds, couch roll etc
Tools that are going to be reused on clients need to be cleaned thoroughly before every treatment and between clients.
e.g., micropigmentation machine, tweezers
